WORKFORCE TRAINING
Workforce training is important to Cullman, Alabama. Along with state and local agencies and businesses, we have established several workforce training programs to benefit both new and existing industries within the city and the surrounding area. Through our workforce programs, we have created a highly-qualified labor pool, and provide additional ongoing training to increase the skill levels and education of existing employees.
Cullman Area Workforce Solutions (CAWS)

Click here to visit the website.The CAWS program is a partnership between Cullman area industry and business leaders, community leaders, educators and other individuals dedicated to improving the workforce labor pool in Cullman and the surrounding region. The program was created to meet the current and future employment needs of the community and produce a larger skilled labor force.
Focus areas include:
- Exchange opportunities for educators to give them a better understanding of area careers
- Career readiness programs for students to prepare them for the workforce
- Cullman Area Career Awareness Expo to help promote career opportunities
- Speaker bureau to increase awareness of area industries and workforce needs
- Programs targeted toward underemployed and dislocated employees
Wallace State Community College

Located minutes from downtown Cullman, Alabama, Wallace State Community College offers associate degree programs and certification courses through their technical program. The college consistently earns high placement rates and near perfect pass rates on state certification exams.

Alabama Technology Network (ATN)

Click here to visit the website. As one of eight ATN Centers of Excellence, Wallace State Community College provides hands-on technical and company-specific employee training to area businesses. These courses are offered either free of charge or for a nominal fee and are available on the WSCC campus or at the company’s location.
Industry-Education Alliance

The Industry-Education Alliance is a partnership between the Cullman Economic Development Agency and Alabama Industrial Development Training (AIDT), Cullman area schools, Wallace State Community College and local manufacturers to address the training needs of industries in the Cullman area. The alliance provides cost-effective training programs tailored specifically for area industries, as well as monthly forums to provide educational opportunities for manufacturing representatives.

AIDT

The Alabama Industrial Development Training (AIDT) designs and conducts workforce training programs to provide technical education for Alabama workers and increase the quality of the labor pool in Alabama’s communities. AIDT’s services are available to any new or existing manufacturer that creates jobs through expansion or location of a plant in Alabama.

Cullman CareerLink

Part of the state’s CareerLink program, Cullman CareerLink provides targeted career training for job seekers and employee training assistance for companies. The agency is within the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education and is funded through the federal (WIA) Workforce Investment Act.
Programs include:
- On-the-Job-Training
This program was designed to offset the costs associated with training eligible workers, and is free to both the trainee and employer. The program can be customized to train a larger amount of employers.
- WIA Incumbent Worker Training
This program provides customized employee training for existing business experiencing difficulties remaining competitive. Employees participating in the program receive skill upgrade training.
- College Tuition Assistance Program
This program awards scholarships to individuals pursuing a technical certification or degree from a two-year postsecondary school.

Cullman CareerLink provides a qualified, trained workforce for area business, reducing the amount of revenue companies must spend on recruitment and training of employees.
